Vista problem

I'm one of the computer guys who is never anxious to move to a new version of anything from Microsoft. There's always something hidden in there to give you a serious headache. True to form, MS's Vista has a new problem with it's tcp/ip networking software whenever it encounters a router with stateful packet inspection. Hopefully, they'll fix that before these pc's start showing up in my office.

Rec'd this email today...

Today Is National Mental Health day!

You can do your bit by remembering to send an email to an unstable friend.

(Well...my job’s done!)

So I couldn't resist a reply...

Oh, thank you so much! I'm just overcome with joy that someone would remember me on such an auspicious day as this. Why, I'm almost speechless with joy!

Almost!

I've never spent much time thinking about mental health. Should I? I mean we're supposed to eat right and excersize to have physical health. How does one go about feeding their mind? And then how do you excersize it?

If chocolate is comfort food, does it work physically and mentally? Is chocolate more comfortable melted or in solid form? (You gotta be careful when you pour chocolate syrup on yourself because it might not come out of the furniture.) Or is the comfort derived from laying on the solid form and feeling it slowly melt as you start to heat the chocolate into shape? Does it feel like laying in a sweet sticky water bed?

Yep, you'll never walk alone again. Think of all the insects that'll fall in love with you. You'll be their new best friend.

And new best friends are always a mental comfort. It's mentally comforting to know you have friends that flock to your side in a moment of need.

So, food for thought, eh?

Firestorm. Where's your hat?

The port takeover deal is starting to get ratcheted up from a lot of different angles. I think the administration is making a mistake over not trying to get the public to understand. I for one do not understand at all. Why in God's name are we letting a foreign company controlled by a tiny 3rd world country be in charge of a vital portion of our nations economy?

That's the question we need to be heard on.

I support most of the president's efforts at securing our nation from outside enemies. I think he's doing a good job for the most part. (let's not count the illegal alien open invitation we currently have with Mexico) But on this project, he is failing miserably at getting word out as to why it's so important to let this tiny country be in charge of the ports of the most powerful nation on earth.

Think about this for a minute. The bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. Why does one love money so much? For power. You've heard the saying that power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. These little Arab nations have too much power in the form of oil right now as it is. Give one of them access to a strangle point to the most powerful nation in the world and it spells trouble to me.

I don't care if they are an ally, I need to know why this little bitty country has to be in charge of our ports?

Do we get to build supersized military bases in the area in return? Do we get supersized discounts on oil? Do we get to be in charge of oil exports there?

Can we go after Michael Jackson for some other legal problem since he ran away from his own country? Doesn't he live there now?

The foxes are in charge of the henhouse.

What else is new, right? I can't believe President Bush is allowing this deal to go thru where the United Arab Emirates company is buying control of 6 major US ports. Obviously, we uninformed people don't know something very important that would trump national security.

I have supported (sometimes vehemently) the war on terror as I feel it is vital to win. However, we seem to have a problem discerning where our weaknesses are at. Millions of illegal aliens waltz across our border from Mexico and we turn out back to it. Now a foreign company under control of a foreign power is going to excersize control over our imports in 6 major connectors. That is ripe for the picking by anti-US idealists.

If history has taught us one thing, Arab nations are susceptable to money. All you have to do is show them the money and they'll do what you want. If that isn't the case, why am I still paying over 2$ a gallon for gas?

If you really believe that Russia is an ally of the US, then read some recent news stories about this "wonderful" nation. All they have to do is flip a little green to the Arabs and next thing you know, the Russkies are controlling the port. Or maybe some overzealous EU nut does the same thing and then they're in charge. This isn't right.

Google attracts sellout crowds!

Wow! Google didn't have a problem selling out to the communist party in China, but refuses to help the US govt crack down on child porno. Something's wrong with this picture for sure.

They use the excuse of giving away trade secrets. Hmm, so the deduction I conclude is that someone is already aware of these trade secrets and is constantly searching google's db for traces of it? What a bunch of maroons.

Religion of peace?

Oh, wait, I said that already.

What a bunch of sissies. A really big bunch of sissies.

That's gonna leave a mark...

If you are one of the people who believe we are living in the end times, last days or however you put it, then this story will get your attention. A local security firm has begun to implant RFID rice pellets in their employees. I know, it's not the first one, but it's the first one here, close to home.

Call me crazy, but combine RFID with smart card technology and the new IP6 based internet and what do you have? My theory is the ability to start a global banking system. What's yours?

War of words, war of worlds

I read a fascinating post today (read here) where someone takes to task the so-called nation of Palestine. I've griped about this in the past, but it's a serious problem for Christians to be hoodwinked with.

God's word is eternal and never changing. We mortal men have no right to try to change it as we continually try. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

I didn't bring my bible with me today, but I believe the land God promised to the nation of Isreal runs all the way over to the Euphrates, if I'm not mistaken. Isn't that in Iraq?

And just what to you make of this?

Bait and switch

Have you ever been taken by one of these ploys? If you haven't, then yay for you.

Consider not buying stuff from TigerDirect/GlobalComputer. Add them to my list of places not to shop, but that aside....

I need to learn how to do some stuff with W2K3 server and SQL server. I know just enough about SQL server to be dangerous, so I want to learn more. Turns out the Mrs. does too, so we agreed that we should get a low end pc and put this software on it and learn as we go. The last MS SQL class we took together netted us the software, anyway. (Too bad it didn't include a pc, then I wouldn't have to have posted this.)

I shopped around looking for a pc that I could get w2k3 drivers for and turns out the basic no OS model that tiger sells for 299 had drivers, but I had to pay an extra 25$ for the drivers. I was a bit miffed by this, but thought it's still a cheap deal.

So, I placed the order, but the account mgr doesn't have a sku for the driver disk, so the deal goes to the next day. I place the order again and now she doesn't have a sku for the pc. Next day, I place the order again to find out the price has now went up another 50$ because she can't sell it for less that 375$, not the 299$ still shown on the website.

Shiesters.

Do yourself a favor and seriously consider consequences of buying from these guys.

Apparently they don't care much because all I got was an email from the acct mgr that said I'm sorry. That's it.

I paid another 75$ and got a dell, dude.

It's beginning to rain

Why is it ok to bash Christian beliefs, but not anything else? I'm not allowed to say that if homosexuals don't change their ways they're in danger of hell's fire. I'm not allowed to say that Islam is a pagan religion that pretends to worship the same god that I do. I'm not allowed to say abortion is murder. I'm not allowed to say that evolution is only a theory with no proof of fact whatsoever.

But everybody and their brother is allowed to say I'm intolerant, bigoted and hateful. Even if I'm not intolerant, bigoted and hateful. Hey, I'm not perfect, but if I know what constitutes wrong, who are you to say what's right?

Check out what NBC has tried to pull since the outcry over the book of daniel tv flop. Jerks.

Help me please.

I'm sure you've heard of the movie out now called brokeback mountain. It's a movie designed to do 2 things. First, and utmost, it's designed to make you see homosexuality as a normal behavior and has no negative bearing on the lives around the homo, plus it needs to make you sympathetic to the cause. But second, and much more subtle, it's designed to make those of us who know just what homosexuality is, to get us to come unglued and not try to have a straight faced heart to heart, so we can just be labelled hateful homophobics and intolerant.

David Kupelian of worldnet daily news has a great writeup on this. If you plan to defend your belief system, this is something you should know by heart and have at the ready to peacefully show others.

Remember, Jesus taught us to love the sinner, hate the sin. And if I recall, the bible says that homosexuality is an abomination to God. The sympathy you should have is based on knowing that if they don't recognize their sin, they're bound to go somewhere else besides heaven when they die.

The bible tells us that God doesn't want anyone to perish, but to have everlasting life. But God isn't forcing Himself on anyone. It's a choice, just like everything else. You either will serve God's purpose or not. Simple choice.

My heart goes out to someone who is caught up in this type of lifestyle and can see no way out. They're literally looking for love in all the wrong places. God's love know's no bounds and He loves even the worst sinner, including me and you. His hand is out waiting on you to take it. When you do, His love will envelope you and take you to new places you've never dreamt of before.

Do yourself a favor and stop running from God. You don't have forever to make up your mind.

What was that you said?

Try to explain this one to the insurance estimator.

Rats. Another pair of shoes down the drain.

Update: I just realized the Yahoo takes their news articles down after a period of time. I wonder if they archive them on a different site or something similar?

I come in peace!

Muslims. Muzzlims. Muzzlems. Hmm. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not making fun...only making an observation.

But now, I'm making fun: Religion of peace, my butt.
